Watchtower Observatory

Built of native stone upon the cliff-top, the watchtower observatory guards the moon-trods that lead from the Eyrie to other freeholds and provides a platform from which the Dreaming heavens may be charted. Tall silver and ebony theodolites, sextants, armillary spheres and celestial globes of nocker manufacture are emplaced upon the broad upper platform to aid in astronomical observations. From the changes made by the firchlis to the firmament, calculations can be made predicting the course of Dán. Such astrological predictions are used by the Knights of the Evening Star in ordering their patrols. [When proper use is made of the observatory in preparing a horoscope of the Dreaming heavens, difficulties of resulting uses of the Soothsay Art are reduced by two.]

One of the devices on the parapet, a complicated theodolite, conceals another purpose. When necessary for the defense of the Eyrie from incursions along the sky-trods, this instrument can serve as a prismatic cannon, chanelling the Glamour of the balefire into a ray of dawn-colored light. Mounted on the railing which encircles the top of the tower, this can be repositioned as needed, although doing so, and aiming at a target, does require time as well as experience with artillery. At need, this cannon can even be aimed at targets upon the ground below the Eyrie, but not within the Autumn World as the watchtower is in the Near Dreaming. [The cannon requires one point of Glamour per shot and can fire once per round. Moving the cannon takes one round, as does targeting. The balefire itself can support only three shots. Dross or a Changeling's own Glamour may be used instead. Difficulty 8 (6 with Heavy Weapons skill), Damage 10]
