The Countess Muirgen Speaks on the Escheat

Right of Demesne
"I would never dream of showing disrespect to a visiting duke, nor to question the rule of the greenest knight in his own holding. However, beneath this roof my rule holds sway. I have reasons for my laws and policies, and were he a guest in my home I would expect even a High Lord to respect them."

Right to Dream
"There are few enough Dreamers in this county as it is, and every one of them is precious to me. If you are in desperate need of Glamour, please say so, and my steward will share what we can. But anyone found Ravaging within my domain shall meet my most grievous displeasure."

Right of Ignorance
"I understand these things are handled differently in the city, but for the safety of us all I ask that knowledge of this freehold and its location be restricted to the kithain. Kindly do me the courtesy to obtain my consent before bringing your kinain relations or your prodigal associates to these halls."

Right of Rescue
"Banality knows no distinction between kith, Court, or house. To save those who have fallen to its sway is a noble deed, and any who perform so great a service to my court may expect great honors. Anyone who cravenly leaves his fellow to rot in mundanity when it is in his power to prevent it merits instead my utter scorn."

Right of Safe Haven
"I hold my duty as a hostess to be sacred. All whom I welcome here are under my protection so long as my rule is respected. We are a passionate people and tempers may run high, but duels in my holding are to be engaged only under formal challenge with chimerical arms or by nonviolent contest. Are we less civilized than those anarchists at Firnost? Kindly leave your weapon in its sheath. You will not be needing it here."

Right of Life
"The taking of another kithain's mortal life is amongst the most grave offense a changeling can commit. One who has gone so far beyond the law is a menace to all kithain. None who are known to have brought salt tears unto the earth need seek Safe Haven here. How could I ever trust such a one not to endanger those under my roof? Hospitality has its limits, as do I."
