Etiquette - the proverbial velvet glove that masks an iron hand. No other single element of character, be it wealth or prestige or skill, distinguishes a noble like flawless manners. Style is every bit as important as substance to the class-conscious sidhe, and those who cannot play the game by the unspoken rules of polite behavior find themselves excluded from the inner circle where authority and influence have their epicenter.

Sidhe are naturally gracious, and as a part of this birthright are simply incapable of making terrible blunders of etiquette. We their players, however, are not so blessed and may find it confusing to know how our charcters should behave in any given circumstances. A good, general overview, written eighty years ago but still perfectly applicable, can be read here. The document will open in its own window, and links in turn to a complete e-text of Etiquette in Society, in Business, in Politics and at Home by Emily Post, from which it is taken.

Nobles are addressed differently, according to rank. This is the most formal address. It is not incorrect to simply use the title ("How do you do, Countess?"), and "my lady" or "my lord" are good, safe catch-alls on most occasions.

Dueling is another subject frought with etiquette. Hardly just a casual fight, a duel follows strict protocols, and violating these costs the combatant dearly in the eyes of his fellow kithain, especially amongst nobility. A guide to the topic can be read here. This page gives great examples of what were considered matters of honor worth settling with a duel, and how such matters were arranged. Changeling society may be a bit more freeform, but I think this adds some good color.
